DJG Around the World
The 'Spirit of Jang Geum' in Hong Kong
The inspirational story of Dae Jang Geum is to be included in the syllabus of elementary schools in Hong Kong. Defined as 'The Spirit of Jang Geum', the new syllabus requirement encourages "a straight, tough, diligent mentality and love of learning and creativity while not being arrogant or subservient and is filled with love that shows us never to abandon our goals in life".
With today's concerns about the negative influence of television on young people, it is encouraging to find a drama like Dae Jang Geum; a moral-filled show which not only entertains, but teaches and inspires viewers.
Dae Jang Geum continues to be one of the most popular dramas in Hong Kong broadcasting history. Below you can watch a music video of the Cantonese version of the Dae Jang Geum theme song (entitled 'Hope'), sung by Hong Kong singer Kelly Chan:

BBC might worry about the length of DJG. It's 56 hours long. However,it's an unnecessary anxiety.
I am sure that after airing a few episodes, many people would be deeply impressed. And other people would ask rebroadcasting to see missed episodes. At the final episode, they would sigh that the drama ends so quickly.
I think airing 2 or more episodes per week would be better than 1 episode per week.
